Food-grade CO₂
CO₂ plays a vital role in the food and beverage industry, where purity, safety and sensory quality are essential.
Two internationally recognized standards define food-grade CO₂: EIGA and ISBT. To qualify as a food-grade, CO₂ must meet one of these standards.
In addition, a food safety management system such as ISO 22000 is required for facilities producing CO₂ intended for use in certified food production environments.
Another key requirement is natural taste and odor. Regardless of the feedstock, all off-flavors and smells must be compleatly removed.
Key focus: Guaranteed elimination of all taste and odor from diverse CO₂ sources.
With our systems, you can upgrade your CO₂ to meet food-grade specifications while ensuring full compliance with industry standards.
Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)
CO₂ can be captured and stored underground to reduce emissions. When combined with biogas production, CCS can even contribute to carbon-negative emissions. CCS projects often have unique and location-specific requirements, which can vary across boarders and storage facilities.
The primary technical focus for CO₂ used in CCS is very low oxygen content combined with specific pressure and temperature conditions depending on the storage site.
Key focus: Compliance with individual storage specifications and maintaining low oxygen levels (max 10 ppm)
With our technology, you can capture and upgrade your CO₂ to meet all CCS specifications.
CO₂ for Power-to-X
CO₂ can be used in many different PtX processes, but it is a common misperception that preparing CO₂ for PtX is simple.
In reality, some PtX applications demand the highest level of purity.
Requirements vary depending on the specific PtX process, but when CO₂ passes through a catalyst, ultra low levels of total sulfur are essential. Even small amounts of sulfur and chlorine can poison catalysts, severely impacting performance and reduce the lifetime.
Key focus: Achieve ultra-low total sulfur levels to meet all off takers requirements.
We can provide systems that purify CO₂ to meet the most demanding PtX specifications.
Industrial-Grade CO₂
CO₂ is commonly used across a range of industrial applications. This grade seems to be the easiest, most cost-effective and simplest to produce, as it has lower purity requirements compared to food, CCS or PtX grades. But the possible savings in CAPEX and OPEX are marginal compared to plants that deliver higher quality grades.
While the market for industrial-grade CO₂ is well established, we always recommend a forward-looking approach to system design.
Key focus: Make sure to invest in a sustainable system, that can adapt to evolving market demands.
We offer efficient systems to produce Industrial Grade CO₂, and recommend a version for a wider range of offtakers.
We look forward to a conversation about how we can support you needs and design a sustainable, long lasting system.
